A Myth about an Octopus

New age/goth-ethereal, A Myth about an Octopus produces pleasing if meaningless and occasionally discordant sounds. Lyrics are indecipherable and the band not only refuses to print them on liner notes, they actively stage DOS attacks on any web site that attempts to transliterate their songs.

Diddly Diddly Dingos

A juvenile garage band whose major influences are the Dead Milkmen and the Sex Pistols, Diddly Diddly Dingo achieved a certain level of honesty, but never any degree of music.

Rainbow Bat

Goth-hippie fusion. Music tends to reflect influences such as American McGee's Alice and Lovecraft's Dreamland tales, drawing on horror and fantasy elements. Frequent costume changes and bizarre light shows are a hallmark of live concerts.

The Corrugated Womb

At first glance, it appears to be an all-girl band. Closer inspection reveals that some of the members (the band's roster changes from gig to gig) are extremely attractive men in drag. There is a strong element of glamour to their videos, and the band flirts with adult contemporary while always returning to their punk roots.

Blinded by the Blight

Blinded by the Blight is a gritty, discordant Manfred Mann cover band with punk and ska influences. In 1998, the group successfully sued Bruce Springsteen for defamation and were famously awarded the $33.58 their collective character was judged to be worth.

Candied Zombie Jesus

This one is almost too easy. Most likely inspired by an episode of Futurama Candied Zombie Jesus doesn't have much to say, but channels most of its lyrical energy into insulting as many people as possible using the fewest possible number of words.

Rigamarogue

Hearkening back to the early days of the Grateful Dead and the Merry Pranksters, Rigamarogue places musical expression second to the various acid tests it likes to perform on the audience, the crew, and the band. Their sound is "bubble-gum pop" as played by electric guitar and old men in spandex pants.

Harlebuckle

A hippie jam band that plays unthreatening, good time pot smoking tunes. Each song lasts, on average, a minimum of fifteen minutes. Harlebuckle comprises at least nine different members, each of whom plays a different stringed instrument. One of them is likely to be named Donnie.

Solos can stretch out for centuries, but that hardly matters to the audience, which has long since become too intoxicated to complain.

Sleep Deprivation Road Trip

The group voted mostly likely to sound vaguely like Wilco.

Its slightly folky take on indie rock wins it minimal critical praise, as well as the opening slot as one of four different bands which play small college town in Ohio.

Peri Hoffa and the Taintsters

Their lyrics reflect a socially astute world view sullied by a juvenile predilection for obscure, tangentially sexual humor. Their fans like to break things.

I can't help but feel a little pride in this one, as messed up as it is. It went through a few incarnations, including "The Taint Interjection," and "The Interjected Taint."

A Bud Named Nurkle

Probably a jam band.

Funky Bean Bun in the Paper Bag

This refers to a tasty Japanese treat.

Connie and the Lingwusses

Self-effacing gutter-punk with cleverly vulgar lyrics.

Naughty Lass Workout Machine

This is a play on words. I picture a badass girl band with a logo something like a nautilus but with legs instead of tentacles coming out of the shell. They play a crowd-pleasing punk-pop fusion but are best known for their music videos, whose imagery has nothing to do with their lyrics, but rather shows the musicians in compromising positions with each other, friendly animals, and political celebrity lookalikes.

Marsupial Hermaphrodite with Extra Anatomy in a Pouch

I believe this one was generated through a discussion of actual animal anatomy. It's two band names, the second one being the opener.

Old Snod
